Ahead of U.S. ICBM Intercept Test, North Korea Threatens (Again) to Nuke United States Mainland

As the Pentagon prepares for the first time to test the U.S. ability to intercept and destroy an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in flight, North Korea has again threatened to target the U.S. homeland with nuclear weapons.

Responding to reports that a U.S. Navy carrier group in the vicinity of the Korean peninsula is to be joined in the area by a second one, Pyongyang’s mouthpiece KCNA news agency said that joint military exercises involving two carrier strike groups “will only make the DPRK’s nuclear weapons target the mainland of the U.S.”

Another regime organ, the Rodong Sinmun, added Monday that the DPRK – the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the North’s formal name – “is fully ready to counter any form of war, operation and combat the U.S. imperialists want to choose.”

It warned that the North Korean military had the will “to make the enemy sustain the most terrible horror and bitterest defeat on their mainland” in the event of a confrontation.

Earlier, the U.S. Navy announced that the USS Ronald Reagan, the only forward-deployed carrier, had set sail after a maintenance period at its base at Yokosuka, south of Tokyo, for patrols in the Western Pacific.

The USS Carl Vinson carrier strike group has been in the region since being deployed there on President Trump’s orders last month amid an ongoing series of North Korean missile tests.

Having two nuclear-powered Nimitz class carriers and their accompanying vessels in the Western Pacific at the same time would be a significant although not unprecedented show of force.  (It has also now been reported that a third carrier, the USS Nimitz, will be heading to the Western Pacific with its strike group in the coming days.)

Vice President Mike Pence, in an address to personnel on the Ronald Reagan flight deck last month, pledged that “the United States will strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific.”

North Korea early Monday carried out yet another ballistic missile launch – at least the 11th this year and the third since South Korean President Moon Jae-in took office on May 10. Unlike the previous two medium-range missile launches on May 13 and 21, Monday’s was believed to be a short-range Scud-class projectile. It landed inside Japan’s exclusive maritime economic zone.

The U.S. and the world are waiting for North Korea to test an ICBM, following Kim Jong-un’s declaration in a televised new year speech in January that preparations for test-firing one had “entered the final stage.”

Defense Intelligence Agency head Lt. Gen. Vincent Stewart told the Senate Armed Services Committee last week that the North Koreans are learning with every test.

He said the key element Pyongyang has yet to master is to ensure a missile survives reentry into the atmosphere, “but that’s really a matter of trial and error.”

“They understand the physics; it’s just the matter of design.”

“Let me be clear on this point,” Stewart said. “If left on its current trajectory, the regime will ultimately succeed in fielding a nuclear-armed missile capable of threatening the United States homeland.”

“While nearly impossible to predict when this capability will be operational,” he added, “the North Korean regime is committed and is on a pathway where this capability is inevitable.”

On Tuesday, the Pentagon’s Missile Defense Agency was expected to carry out a test of its ground-based midcourse defense system (GMD), for the first time trialing its ability to detect and destroy an incoming ICBM rather than other types of missiles.

The GMD architecture includes ground-based interceptors based at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California and Fort Greely, Alaska, designed primarily to deal with threats from North Korea.

The test is expected to entail a missile with ICBM characteristics being launched from the Ronald Reagan Missile Test Site on Kwajalein atoll in the Marshall Islands. From Vandenberg, more than 4,500 miles away, an interceptor will then be launched with the aim of shooting it down.

Previous GMD tests, with non-ICBM target missiles, have had a mixed record – nine out of 17 attempts since October 1999 have succeeded, with the most recent, in June 2014, a success following three consecutive failures between January 2010 and July 2013.

By contrast, AEGIS shipborne ballistic missile defense shield tests have had a higher success rate, 35 successful intercepts in 42 attempts between 2002 and last December.

And the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system, recently deployed in South Korea for the first time, has a 13 out of 13 test intercept success rate between 2006 and 2015.

North Korean leader Kim Jung Un is getting off easy.

In 2009, I wrote an Editorial on this web site which criticized three United States Judges for violating the Constitution and said they “deserve to be killed.”  For expressing that opinion, I was charged criminally with “Threatening to assault and murder three United States Judges.”

How can that be given the First Amendment freedoms of speech and of the press?  Simple: The federal courts do not obey the Constitution or follow the law. They are cesspools of corruption, with judicial filth like United States District Court Judge Donald E. Walter of Shreveport, Lousiana, and Prosecutorial Garbage like Assistant United States Attorneys William R. Hogan, William Ridgway and Diane MacArthur of Chicago.  Public servant filth, each and every one of them.

I was put on trial – hung jury.  I was put on trial a second time – hung jury.  At that point, having been jailed without bail for four months and then held under house arrest and unable to work or earn money, I was driven into Bankruptcy.  Unable to pay my lawyers, I was appointed a federal public defender and put on trial for an astonishing THIRD time. ( a practive usually reserved for top Mafia bosses).   Verdict: Guilty.  Off to federal prison I went for 33 months, then 3 years probation where I was banned by court order from being on radio or operating a web site.

To this date, I am the only living American media personality to ever have been jailed for writing an Editorial.  No other living American has suffered such a fate.

While I said nothing to indicate my personal intent to attack anyone – but got jailed anyway – Kim Jung Un has repeatedly threatened to actually use weapons of mass destruction. Weapons he actually possesses.

He has repeatedly threatened to attack the mainland United States and kill millions of us.

What has the US federal government done to him for these actual threats (as opposed to my _opinion_?)   Nothing.

I want the United States government to capture or kill Kim Jung Un for making repeated Terroristic Threats to actually murder we Americans.

I want the the United States armed forces to attack and destroy by force, the country of North Korea so as to neutralize their ability to nuke us.

Yes, such an endeavor would likely cost many lives in South Korea and perhaps even Japan.  Pardon my bluntness, but I would much rather sacrifice lives in South Korea or Japan instead of Los Angeles or some other American city.

Each time North Korea launches another missile in a test, it gains valuable information about how to improve their missile technology toward their public goal of nuking America.

Each time North Korea tests another nuclear bomb, it gains valuable information about how to miniaturize such weapons to mount atop a long range missile.

Previous US Administrations were content to do nothing.  The luxury of doing nothing is now past.  It is time to attack North Korea as a matter of self defense.

They have threatened to nuke us.  We have a right to defend ourselves.

Rand Paul Wants to ‘Destroy’ ISIS Yet ‘Stay the Heck Out of Their Civil War’

Rand Paul continues to oppose the arming of Syrian rebels as part of the military campaign against ISIS, although he favors U.S. airstrikes aimed at “destroy[ing] ISIS militarily” (albeit with the congressional approval that President Obama is not seeking). Yesterday the Kentucky senator was one of a dozen Republicans who voted against Obama’s plan to arm and train “moderate” opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. While some of those votes were cast by critics who think Obama’s response to ISIS is too namby-pamby, Paul said he opposes the plan because he does not want the U.S. to become more involved in Middle Eastern wars. Yet that is precisely what Paul is advocating when he calls for the destruction of ISIS, and much of his argument yesterday counts equally against the intervention he supports:

Intervention, when both choices are bad, is a mistake. Intervention, when both sides are evil, is a mistake. Intervention that destabilizes the Middle East is a mistake. Yet here we are again, wading into a civil war….

Involving ourselves in these complicated, thousand-year-long civil wars lead[s] to unintended consequences….

It is messy; it is unclear. There are bad people on both sides. We need to stay the heck out of their civil war….

War should only occur when America is attacked, when it is threatened or when our American interests are threatened or attacked….

The people who live there need to stand up and fight. The Kurds are fighting. They seem to be the only people who are really capable of or willing to fight for their homeland. The Iraqis need to step up and fight. It is their country. If they are not going to fight for it, I don’t think we need to be in the middle of their fight….

The United States should not fight a war to save face. I won’t vote to send our young men and women to sacrifice life and limb for a stalemate….

When American interests are at stake, it is incumbent upon those advocating for military action to convince Congress and the American people of that threat.

Too often the debate begins and ends with a conclusion. They say: Well, our national interest is at stake. That is the conclusion. The debate is: Is the national interest at stake?…

When we go to war, the burden of proof lies with those who wish to engage in war. They must convince the American people and convince Congress….

Shooting first and aiming later has not worked for us in the past. The recent history of the Middle East has not been a good one. Our previous decisions have given results that should cause us to be quite wary of trying to do the same again….

The moss-covered, too-long-in-Washington crowd cannot help themselves: War, war, what we need is more war. But they never pay attention to the results of the last war….

What we need is someone to shout: War, war, what are we fighting for?…

The only consistent theme is war. These barnacled enablers have never met a war they didn’t like. They beat their chests in rhythmic ode to failed policies….Unintended consequences drown and smother the possibility of good intentions….

We shouldn’t give a free pass to forever intervene in the civil wars of the Middle East. Intervention created this chaos. Intervention aided and abetted the rise of radical Islam. Intervention has made us less safe in Libya and in Syria and in Iraq….

We should remember that they were wrong, that there were no WMDs, that Hussein, Qadhafi, and Assad were not a threat to us….

The barnacled purveyors of war should admit their mistakes and not compound them.

After hearing Paul condemn past interventions based on trumped-up threats, remind his colleagues about the ever-present risk of unintended consequences, and insist that the burden of proof should be on those who advocate war, it is easy to forget that he actually supports this war, although he disagrees with Obama about how to conduct it. Paul says “ISIS is now a threat to us,” although in his 6,700-word speech this is the closest he comes to explaining why: “If ISIS is left to its own devices, maybe they will fulfill what they have boasted of and attack our homeland.” That is also the closest that Obama comes to justifying this war; Paul’s admirers might have expected more from a man who talks so much about the dangers of foreign intervention.

Notably, while Paul just a few weeks ago was saying war must be justified by “a threat to our national security” (which he wasn’t sure ISIS posed), he is now willing to settle for a threat to “American interests,” which can mean whatever an advocate of war says it means. Don’t Americans have an “interest” in promoting peace, preventing the slaughter of innocents, and freeing people from oppressive governments? This highly elastic criterion for military action leads to just the sort of promiscuous intervention that Paul criticizes.

“Let’s get on with destroying them,” Paul says, referring to ISIS. “But make no mistake: Arming Islamic rebels in Syria will only make it harder to destroy ISIS.” Paul surely is correct that trying to arm the right rebels is a strategy fraught with peril, but he seems to forget that the rebels are supposed to be proxies for U.S. soldiers, which he is adamantly against sending to Syria or Iraq as part of the war against ISIS. Yet Paul says the U.S. should do “everything we can to help” the Iraqi opponents of ISIS, including “air support,” “intelligence,” and “drones.” Those roles can very quickly entangle American soldiers in combat on the ground, even if Obama prefers to call it something else. Paul does not mention Syria in this context, but any serious effort to “destroy” ISIS would have to involve airstrikes and other kinds of military assistance there, which amounts to the kind of meddling Paul says we should avoid. It is impossible to reconcile Paul’s avowed goal with his avowed desire to “stay the heck out of their civil war.”

To his credit, Paul continues to insist that Obama needs congressional approval for this war, and yesterday he ridiculed the administration’s attempt to justify it based on the authorization that Congress passed prior to the war in Afghanistan 13 years ago. “That vote had nothing to do with this,” he said. “You are a dishonest person if you say otherwise.” Rand suggested that the post-9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force could more plausibly be cited as a justification for attacking the rebels the U.S. government now plans to back, since they are intermittently allied with Al Qaeda against Assad: “We could use the 2001 use-of-force authorization, as Secretary Kerry understands it, to attack the same people we are giving the weapons to.”

What we are taught about history in American schools is not history, but a fairy tale. Better yet, it is propaganda designed to hoodwink an unsuspecting society about its true heritage and the treasonous acts and sabotage that were conceived in order to bring about a New World Order. You are about to learn the real identities of those who have infiltrated your nation on behalf of secret societies intent on bringing about the total slavery of mankind. In the past, others have written about the numerous conspiracies to control natural resources, energy, food and our sovereign right to live on planet Earth — not as slaves of a wealthy few — but as free men, women, and children exercising the free will given to them by God.

Imagine you were a member of a secret organization whose sole agenda was to control the entire planet. If your plan was to accomplish this goal without being perceived by your intended victims, discretion would be paramount. Your organization would devise a series of historical events that, on the surface, would appear to be everyday, happenstance occurrences (natural disasters, man-made diseases, acts of murder, assassination, terror, manipulation of money and energy supplies, contamination of foods, pollution of natural resources, and war). The timing of these events would require patience, careful planning, and cooperation from others in positions of trust, stealth and deceit. In essence, the whole mission must derive its power through deception and concealment and must have a master plan.

Hocine Drouiche The Vice President Of All Imams In France Just Resigned… His Last Words Are A Big Warning To The World

Following the tragic attack in Nice, the Vice President of all Imams in France just resigned. His last words serve as a massive warning for the world.

Hocine Drouiche, Imam of Nimes, had some haunting words to share with the public.

“I announce my resignation and my rejection of these incompetent institutions that do nothing for the social peace and that they do not stop repeating that extremism does not exist , and is produced by the mass media,” Drouiche said.

Before resigning, Hocine had been elected to become Imam of the great mosque in Paris.

“I hope the imams in France this Friday will speak against hate and will talk about what happened in Nice,” he continued. “We will never move forward if we don’t understand that extremism lives inside our mosques. We as Muslims have not engaged ourselves in finding a solution against hate in our midst. I hope that Muslims will wake up in Europe.”

The Franco-Algerian imam rails against the silence of its counterparts and Muslim preachers at what he sees as a “terrorist attack“.

Islam today dehumanized

In July last year, already, in a speech during an interfaith meeting in Brussels on the persecution of Christians, he denounced “the fact that no imam had come to pray before the drafting of Charlie Hebdo or before the kosher supermarket. ” For him, “Islam is now dehumanized.”

“The absence of major concepts of ancient Islamic civilizations night Muslims today, supported Hocine Drouiche. Values such as dialogue, tolerance, reason and welcoming others have not stood the test of an Islamic literalism that separates friends from enemies of God, believers from unbelievers, Muslims infidels. In such an environment, the emergence of fanaticism was inevitable. ”

“Get out of your subject!”

For the imam, “the latest bombings in the West and in the Muslim world show how religious reform has become necessary for the continued existence of Islam and Muslims. Such events have shown the importance of this reform for world peace. ”

Yesterday on Facebook, Hocine Drouiche reiterated its call to the French imams to “get out of their reserves,” recalling that if “Islam is innocent, it takes brave men to prove it.” A daunting task as, according to him, “it is now very difficult to differentiate Islam religious ideological Islam.”

You are my brothers or Muslim leaders ? A day full of meetings was nice with the victims’ families , interventions , peace and reconciliation speech but also condemnation of the shameful immobility more responsible musulmans. I’ve clearly requested their resignation because they fail to assume their historical responsibility in a very difficult time that our country is going through .

Two hours ago Hocine Drouiche announced on his Facebook timeline

Clarification: Dear (E) S FRIEND (E) S, I can only confirm that I haven’t resigned from the vice presidency of the council of Imams. We have suspended all our cooperation with the French Council of the Muslim religion which represents “officially” the French Muslims!

What do you think of Hocine’s words? Is this the closest we’ve come to an acknowledgment that Islam can be a dangerous religion?

84 Killed As Truck Ploughs Through Crowd In Nice; Terrorist Act, Says France

At least 84 people were killed and 100 injured in the French city of Nice when a man deliberately drove a lorry into a crowd celebrating the country’s main national holiday, authorities said.

The attacker behind the wheel on Thursday drove at high speed along the famed Promenade des Anglais seafront, careering into spectators who had been watching a Bastille Day firework display.

Police shot and killed the driver, officials said.

France’s Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that children were among the dead and 18 people were in a critical condition.

“There’s no denying the terrorist nature of this attack of yet again the most extreme form of violence,” French President Francois Hollande said in an address to the nation in the early hours of Friday.

Hollande said that he would extend a state of emergency – which had been in place since the attacks in Paris last November – for another three months from July 26.

Nothing will make us yield in our will to fight terrorism. We will further strengthen our actions in Iraq and in Syria. We will continue striking those who attack us on our own soil,” he said, in reference to France’s involvement in a coalition of nations carrying out air strikes against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group.

The attack happened just as the firework display – which was attended by thousands of people – was ending, at around 11:00pm local time (21:00GMT).

Eric Ciotti, a local MP, said the lorry continuously rammed the crowd over a distance of two kilometres.

Ciotti said on BFM TV that police killed the driver “apparently after an exchange of gunfire“, adding that the truck was loaded with weapons and grenades.

Residents of Nice, a Mediterranean city close to the Italian border, were advised to stay indoors.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. But Nada Bakos, a former CIA analyst, told Al Jazeera that it “looks very similar” to some of the attacks carried out by al-Qaeda and ISIL.

They were inciting their followers to produce this type of violence,” she said.

‘I saw bodies flying’

Writing online, Nice Matin journalist Damien Allemand, who was on the scene, said the firework display had finished and the crowd was about to leave when they heard a noise and screams.

“A fraction of a second later, an enormous white truck came along at a crazy speed, turning the wheel to mow down the maximum number of people,” he said.

“I saw bodies flying like bowling pins along its route. Heard noises, cries that I will never forget.”

Allemand said that he and others took shelter in a nearby restaurant. He continued to hear people shouting for missing family members. He ventured out and saw bodies, blood and body parts all along the road.

“This evening, it was horror,” he said.

The Paris prosecutor’s office opened an investigation for “murder, attempted murder in an organised group linked to a terrorist enterprise”. The investigation was being handled by France’s intelligence agency and judicial police.

An eyewitness told the Associated Press news agency he saw the driver emerge from the lorry shooting, after ramming into the crowd.

“There was carnage on the road,” Wassim Bouhlel, a witness, told AP. “Bodies everywhere.”

In a video viewed over 2,500 times on Facebook, a trembling Tarubi Wahid Mosta told of the horror on the promenade, where he took photos of an abandoned doll and pushchair and came home with a victim’s dog.

“I almost stepped on a corpse, it was horrible. It looked like a battlefield,” he said.

In a series of posts he described a sense of helplessness faced with the carnage.

All these bodies and their families … they spent hours on the ground holding the cold hands of bodies dismembered by the truck. You can’t even speak to them or comfort them.”

“I was enjoying the Bastille Day fireworks just like thousands of other people at the promenade in Nice,” he said.

“I was just walking back after the fireworks had finished. I looked towards the truck and I thought it was a bit odd, because the roads were shut down and there were hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people walking along. But then, from the direction of the truck, I started hearing screaming and then people started running. And so I joined all those people in running away from there.”

Obama: ‘A horrific terrorist attack’

US President Barack Obama condemned “what appears to be a horrific terrorist attack”.

European Council President Donald Tusk said it was a “tragic paradox” that the victims of the attack in Nice were celebrating “liberty, equality and fraternity” – France’s motto – on the country’s national day.

Tusk tweeted a photograph of himself and other European and Asian leaders standing in tribute to the Nice victims at an Asia-Europe summit in Mongolia.

Hollande, who was in the south of France at the time of the attack but raced back to Paris to a national crisis centre, had hours earlier said that a state of emergency put in place after November’s Paris attacks would not be extended when it expires on July 26.

The attack happened on the night of the Bastille Day national celebration

French President Francois Hollande said the attack was clearly a ‘terrorist’ act.

Due Process? A Drone Was Used To Blow Up A US Citizen Without Trial This Week

The Dallas shootings have ushered in a very new world for US citizens. For the very first time, drones have been used on US soil to kill Americans without trial or charges. The suspected shooter in yesterday’s tragic killings, US Army veteran Micah Xavier Johnson, was, according to police and press reports, holed up in a parking garage and would not give himself up. After hours of what police claimed were fruitless negotiations with Johnson, a weaponized robot was sent to where he was hiding and blown up, taking Johnson with it.

Get past the horror of what Johnson was accused of doing and think about that precedent for a moment. Is it not chilling?

RPI regular contributor Peter Van Buren, a retired State Department official who did a tour in Iraq, put a very fine point on the “robot” bomb:

Indeed, even without wings, this was a drone sent in to kill an American suspected of a crime.

Police claim that continuing the negotiations was pointless and attempting to capture him would have put officers at risk. He was supposedly shooting. While no sane person wants police officers to be killed, risk is something we are told they willingly accept when they sign up for police duty. There are plenty of low-risk jobs out there.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA… Are you ready to turn back the clocks to the 1800’s for up to three years? Our grandfathers and great-grandfathers were the last generation to practice the basic things that we call survival skills now… WATCH THIS VIDEO and you will find many interesting things!

The media and opinion-leaders are presenting us with a false choice: if we question the use of drones to kill Americans — even if we suspect they have done very bad things — we somehow do not care about the lives of police officers. That is not the case. It is perfectly possible to not want police officers to be killed in the line of duty but to wholeheartedly reject the idea of authorities using drones to remotely kill Americans before they are found guilty.

African-American Dallas protester Mark Hughes was wrongly identified by Dallas Police as a suspect in the shootings. Police tweeted photos of Hughes marching with protesters openly carrying a rifle, as is permitted in Texas. Police claimed was involved in the shooting. He was a suspect just like Johnson was a suspect. During questioning they told Hughes that they had video of him shooting people, which was a lie. What if police had sent in a drone to take out Mark Hughes? What will happen in the future to a future Mark Hughes, falsely accused by police of being involved in a shooting? Will we come to accept murder without trial?
